The Perfect and Easy Margarita
Since introduced to margaritas I have searched for the perfect and easy to make margarita. One problem in using the mixes is that it is full of food dyes and chemicals I can not pronounce not taste fresh.
I usually squeeze the small limes and add a touch of Agave syrup. The below is a solution when you need to make a pitcher and don't have fresh limes or the time:
Below is my recipe that people have asked me.
1- Get good Tequila. Jose Cuervo will not cut it. It is very true that better liquor makes better tasting drinks. We proved this in a couple of blind taste tests. Don’t let anyone kid you by saying the tequila doesn’t matter in a Margarita. The tequila may not matter after the 4th one if you are looking to get trashed. The good stuff is for sipping. It will taste better and smoother.
I like the anejo or aged Tequila but a good Reposado will work. It is usually $10 more per bottle than the Cuervo stuff and well worth it.
2- Triple Sec or Countreau. Countreau is the fancier version and tastes a little better. Either works
3- One can Frozen Minute Maid Lime Aid and 3/4 cup of water and 1/2 cup fresh pressed lime juice
Empty the can of frozen Lime Aid and put it in a pitcher. Dilute with ¾ to can of water, add ¾ to 1 can of Triple Sec and one can of Tequilla and 1/2 cup fresh lime juice. Shake it up. Cut one lime in quarters and squeeze it in. Drop it in after squeezing. (I do not do frozen margaritas as it kills the flavor by being too cold)
Fill ½ way with ice and pour drink in. Garnish with lime if you’d like and enjoy.
Salud!
