People's Republic Of China,

By Tab Hauser

I have been to China many times starting in 1989 mostly in the booming city of Shanghai and its surrounding area. Other cities visited included Beijing, Xian, Xiamen, Guanzo (Canton), Shenzhen and Ningbo to name most of them.

On my first trip to Shanghai there were less than 10 "skyscapers". Now there are over 1000 with more being built. The first few years the famous Bundt area was pretty depressed with the water front foul adored and very depressing.  What I saw across the waters to Pu-Dong was farms and the garbage they burned. A number of years ago  the people I was visiting took me on a tour by driving across the first bridge in the area because they had never seen anything like it before and thought perhaps I should see it. We simply crossed, paid 3 people the toll, turned around and paid 3 more people a toll.

What Shanghai now is a booming world class city with a first class water front. Pu Dong across the way is with its modern architecture is amazing. Things changed fast.

Because of the recent visits and changes going on I will be updating this web page shortly. Please email tabh@hascorelays.com if you have any questions. In the mean time here are a few recent shots. If you have not been here before, the picture you are looking at was farm land not that long ago.

Perhaps the above is a little too modern looking?
